Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam

The cleansing base is a classic potassium soap (fatty acids like stearic, myristic, and lauric neutralized with potassium hydroxide), which is what creates the thick, abundant foam, while sodium bicarbonate plus a little silica and cellulose add a mild polishing action to help clear pores. A trace of lactic acid and glycerin round it out. Massage a small amount with water onto wet skin, work into a lather, then rinse — use it in the morning or as the second step of an evening double cleanse. Because it's a soap-type, higher-pH foam and contains added fragrance, it can feel a touch stripping; dry, sensitive, or easily-tight skin may prefer a low-pH cleanser, and it helps to follow with toner and moisturizer.
